Little Sofia

Baptisms move quickly and mean everything. With little Sofia, I kept to the edges of the room — close enough to catch the candlelight on her godmother’s hands, far enough that the family forgot I was there.

What stays with me from this morning is the quiet between the rituals: a grandmother’s tears, a father exhaling, the white of the gown against old stone. These are the frames I photograph for.
